Asked to develop an information-rich web site that would be easy to navigate, simple to update, and appealing to viewers and listeners of all ages, Communication Arts knew the challenge was one of designing for clarity. Drawing on the vibrance of graphical elements of the Public Broadcasting Service brand, the MPB design accommodates disparate information—and a lot of it—without appearing busy or congested. Communication Arts kept the look fresh through a changing image gallery and organization targeted to the needs of MPB’s many audiences, including children.

MPB Kids is a website within the overall site, mirroring the larger site’s organization for consistency but in a style geared to children.

For MPB staff, a content management system was put into place to make adding and editing information as effortless as filling out a form.

The website—fully articulated for hand-held devices—also has a streamlined mobile version for ready access to schedules, news, and stations.
